Although the workshops seem to imply one long working session, they can also be done in small bits of time. Lots of people need to be able to do this because their brains don't do long externally-motivated focused sessions, or they have an incredibly busy life with family, school, work, etc. So here is how and why to do workshops in little bites instead of big, long gulps.

The creative process as delineated by Mihalyi Csikszentmihalyi is based on a concept of "flow."

Flow is happening when we are absorbed in an activity such that one's focuses completely without being conscious of a struggle to concentrate. The feeling of flow is highly rewarding. There is also a high level of internal motivation to work on whatever the topic is because the person chooses that.

There are many, many examples of flow. Anyone who loses consciousness of time while doing something he/she cares about is in flow. This can include visual artists, writers, computer programmers, teachers, musicians, scientists, statisticians--anybody.
